Valheim servers on SLASHPLAY

SLASHPLAY runs dedicated Valheim servers, so your world is always there for the group, even when the person who started it is offline. Deploy one, share the address and password, and your friends join from inside Valheim. It runs only while you play.

What’s different about Valheim

There’s always a password. Valheim’s dedicated server won’t run without one, so SLASHPLAY creates a random password for every Valheim server. On the General tab the password section says Required by Valheim; cannot be disabled. You can change the password, but not remove it. You find it on the server card, at the top of the server page, and on the invite page, each with a button to show it. See Join passwords.

You join from inside the game. There’s no one-click join for Valheim. The invite page has Open in Steam, which starts Valheim, and Copy address; your friends then add the server in Valheim and type the password.

Private by default. The server doesn’t appear in Valheim’s community server list, so only people with the address can find it.

Steam players. The server runs without crossplay, so players need the Steam version of Valheim.

Sizes

Valheim’s price is based on 2 CPU and 2 GB. SMALL (1 CPU, 2 GB) is the cheapest and fine for a few friends early on. As the world grows and you build big bases, or with more players, MEDIUM (2 CPU, 4 GB) gives the server more room. See Server sizes.

Your world’s files

The world (the worlds_local folder) and Valheim’s adminlist.txt, bannedlist.txt and permittedlist.txt are part of every save. You can open and edit them with the file manager (Advanced → Files), for example to add your Steam ID to adminlist.txt and restart. See Admins, bans and the permitted list.
