How to run a config file in CS 1.6
Type exec match.cfg in the server console to run every command in that file from the cstrike folder.
exec
Runs every command in a config file, such as server.cfg or your own match configs.
exec <file> Examples
exec server.cfg Rerun the main server config.
exec match.cfg Load a match config you created in cstrike.
exec banned.cfg Load saved SteamID bans.
Arguments
fileRequired- The config file name, for example server.cfg or a path like configs/match.cfg.
What it does
Reads a .cfg file and runs each line as if you had typed it. Paths are relative to the cstrike folder. Keep match, warmup or practice settings in their own files and switch between them with one exec instead of typing each setting.
Good to know
- If the file does not exist the console prints an error and nothing changes.
- Lines that start with // are comments and are ignored.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
