How to save bans in CS 1.6

Type writeid in the server console after banid or removeid to save permanent SteamID bans to banned.cfg so they survive a restart.

writeid

Saves permanent SteamID bans to banned.cfg.

writeid

Examples

writeid

Save the SteamID ban list.

banid 0 #12 kick; writeid

Ban, kick and save in one line.

What it does

Writes the SteamID ban list from memory to banned.cfg in the cstrike folder. Run it after banid or removeid so the change survives a restart. Only permanent bans (0 minutes) are written.

Good to know

  • banned.cfg must be run at startup, usually by exec banned.cfg in server.cfg, to load the bans.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
