How to change the server config file in CS 1.6
Type servercfgfile match.cfg in the server console and the server runs match.cfg instead of server.cfg each time a map starts.
servercfgfile
Config file the dedicated server runs on every map load. Default server.cfg.
servercfgfile <filename> Examples
servercfgfile server.cfg The default.
servercfgfile match.cfg Use a separate config for matches from the next map on.
Arguments
filenameRequired- Config file name relative to the cstrike folder.
What it does
Counter-Strike executes this file each time a map starts on a dedicated server, so settings in it survive restarts and map changes. Point it at a different file to switch between setups, for example a public config and a match config. The file lives in the cstrike folder.
Good to know
- Settings typed in the console last only until a restart; put them in this file to keep them.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
