How to make an alias in CS 1.6

Type alias warmup "mp_freezetime 0; mp_startmoney 16000; sv_restart 1" in the server console, then warmup runs all three.

alias

Creates a named shortcut that runs one or more console commands.

alias [name] ["commands"]

Examples

alias warmup "mp_freezetime 0; mp_startmoney 16000; sv_restart 1"

Create a warmup command you can run by typing warmup.

alias

List all defined aliases.

Arguments

nameOptional
The name of the new command.
commandsOptional
The commands to run, in quotes, separated by semicolons.

What it does

Defines a new console command that runs the commands you give it, separated by semicolons inside quotes. Aliases are handy in server.cfg or other config files to group settings, for example a warmup or a match setup. Run alias with no arguments to list the aliases that exist. Aliases are not saved, so define them in a config file if you need them after a restart.

Good to know

  • Use exec with a separate .cfg file for long setups instead of very long aliases.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
