How to ban a player in CS 1.6
Type banid 0 #12 kick in the server console to ban userid 12 by SteamID for good and kick them, then writeid to save the ban.
banid
Bans a player by SteamID for a number of minutes, or permanently with 0, and can kick them at once.
banid <minutes> <#userid|steamid> [kick] Examples
banid 0 #12 kick Permanently ban the player with userid 12 and kick them now.
banid 30 STEAM_0:1:12345678 Ban this SteamID for 30 minutes.
banid 0 STEAM_0:1:12345678 kick; writeid Permanent ban, kick, and save the list to banned.cfg.
Arguments
minutesRequired- How long the ban lasts. 0 means permanent.
#userid|steamidRequired- The player's userid from
statuswith a # in front, or their SteamID such as STEAM_0:1:12345678. kickOptional- Add this word to kick the player immediately.
What it does
Adds a SteamID to the server's ban list. You can name the player by their userid with a # in front, as shown in status, or by their SteamID. Add kick at the end to remove them from the server right away. Bans are held in memory, so run writeid to save permanent bans to banned.cfg or they are lost on restart.
Good to know
- Only permanent bans (0 minutes) are written to banned.cfg by
writeid. - banned.cfg must be run at startup, usually by
exec banned.cfgin server.cfg, for saved bans to apply after a restart. - Players without a valid SteamID (for example on LAN) may all share the same ID, so ban by IP with
addipin that case.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
