How to set the AFK timeout in Minecraft

Type setidletimeout 15 in the server console, or /setidletimeout 15 in chat as an operator, to kick players idle for 15 minutes. 0 turns it off.

setidletimeout

Kicks players automatically after they have been idle for a set number of minutes, or turns that off with 0.

/setidletimeout <minutes>

Examples

/setidletimeout 15

Kicks players after 15 idle minutes.

setidletimeout 0

From the console, turns the idle kick off.

Arguments

minutesRequired
Idle minutes before a kick. 0 turns it off.

What it does

Players who send no input for the given time are disconnected. This is the same setting as player-idle-timeout in server.properties. Use 0 to turn the timeout off.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 3 (admin).

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
