How to IP ban someone in Minecraft

Type ban-ip Griefer123 in the server console to ban that player's current IP, or ban-ip 203.0.113.25 for an address. No account can join from it.

ban-ip

Bans an IP address, or the current IP of an online player, so no account can join from it.

/ban-ip <target> [<reason>]

/ban-ip 203.0.113.25

Bans one IP address.

/ban-ip Griefer123 Ban evasion

Bans the IP Griefer123 is connected from.

Arguments

targetRequired
IP address or online player name.
reasonOptional
Text shown when they try to join.

What it does

Give an IP address or the name of an online player to ban their IP. This also blocks other people on the same connection, such as family members or a shared network. IP bans are stored in banned-ips.json; lift them with pardon-ip.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 3 (admin).
