How to remove op from someone in Minecraft

Type deop Steve in the server console, or /deop Steve in chat as an operator, and Steve loses access to op commands.

deop

Removes operator status from a player, taking away their access to op commands.

/deop <targets>

Removes Steve's operator status.

deop Steve

From the server console, without the slash.

Arguments

Player name.

What it does

The player is removed from ops.json and drops back to the normal player level right away.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 3 (admin).
