How to make a custom command in CS:S

Type alias quiet "volume 0.2; voice_scale 0.3" in your game console, then quiet runs both. Keep aliases in autoexec.cfg.

alias

Creates a custom command name that runs one or more other commands.

alias <name> "<commands>"

Examples

alias quiet "volume 0.2; voice_scale 0.3"

One command for quiet mode.

alias +jumpduck "+jump; +duck"; alias -jumpduck "-jump; -duck"

A crouch jump alias.

Arguments

nameRequired
New command name.
commandsRequired
Commands to run, separated by semicolons.

What it does

Aliases are the building blocks of scripts such as toggles and buy binds. Define them in autoexec.cfg.

The game's own description: Alias a command.

Good to know

  • Aliases starting with + also need a - version for key release.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS:S server first.
