How to change draw distance in CS 1.6
Type sv_zmax 8192 in the server console to draw the world out to 8192 units. Maps set their own value when they load.
sv_zmax
Farthest distance clients draw the world. The map sets it on load.
sv_zmax <units> Examples
sv_zmax 8192 Draw distance for a large map.
Arguments
unitsRequired- Draw distance in units.
What it does
Anything beyond this distance is not drawn, so on large open maps a value that is too low cuts off distant walls and sky. Maps set it from their own max range setting when they load, 4096 if they set nothing, which is why a running server often shows another value such as 8192. You rarely need to change it by hand.
Good to know
- A hand-set value is replaced on the next map load.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
