How to change map in CS 1.6

Type changelevel de_dust2 in the server console and the server switches to that map, keeping every connected player.

changelevel

Switches the server to another map while keeping connected players on the server.

changelevel <map>

Examples

changelevel de_dust2

Switch to Dust 2 and keep everyone connected.

changelevel de_inferno

Switch to Inferno.

Arguments

mapRequired
The map name without .bsp, for example de_dust2.

What it does

Loads a new map and carries all connected players over to it, the same way a normal end of map change works. This is the command to use on a live server. The map must exist in cstrike/maps, and the name is typed without the .bsp extension. Run maps * first if you are not sure of the exact name.

Good to know

  • If the map name is wrong the command fails and the current map keeps running.
  • Settings typed in the console stay after a changelevel; the file named by mapchangecfgfile, if set, runs on each change.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
