How to change the sky in CS 1.6
Type sv_skyname "space" in the server console to switch the skybox. The next map sets its own sky, and players may need to reconnect to see it.
sv_skyname
Name of the skybox drawn around the map.
sv_skyname <name> Examples
sv_skyname "space" Use the space skybox, if the client has it.
sv_skyname "desert" The engine default sky.
Arguments
nameRequired- Skybox name without the side suffix, for example desert.
What it does
Maps set their own sky when they load, so this mostly shows which sky the current map uses. You can set it to another skybox name, such as one from gfx/env, but the next map sets its own sky again, and players may not see the new sky until they reconnect. Custom skies need their image files on the client, so add them to the map's resources for download.
Good to know
- The map overrides this on every load.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
