How to load a map on a CS 1.6 server
Type map de_dust2 in the server console to start that map with a full reload. On a live server changelevel is smoother for players.
map
Loads a map from scratch. On a live server prefer changelevel, which keeps players connected.
map <map> Examples
map de_dust2 Load Dust 2 from scratch.
maps de_ List matching maps first if unsure of the name.
Arguments
mapRequired- The map name without .bsp, for example de_nuke.
What it does
Starts the given map with a full server reload, as when the server boots. Connected players have to load in again, and it is not as smooth for them as changelevel. Use it when changelevel will not do, for example to start a map on a server that is not running one yet. The map name is typed without .bsp.
Good to know
- If the map does not exist, the server prints an error and keeps the current map.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
