How to change the MOTD in CS 1.6
Type motd_write "Welcome. No cheating, be respectful." in the server console to replace the message of the day with that text.
motd_write
Writes the text you give it into the message of the day file.
motd_write <text> Examples
motd_write "Welcome. No cheating, be respectful." Set a short MOTD.
Arguments
textRequired- The new message of the day.
What it does
Replaces the contents of the MOTD file, named by motdfile, with the text you type. Fine for a short one line message; for a longer or HTML MOTD, edit motd.txt directly.
Good to know
- This overwrites the existing file.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
