How to change edge friction in CS 1.6

Type edgefriction 1 in the server console to remove the extra friction near ledges, so players slide off edges more easily. The default is 2.

edgefriction

Extra friction multiplier applied when a player stands near the edge of a drop.

edgefriction <multiplier>

Examples

edgefriction 2

The default.

edgefriction 1

No extra friction at ledges.

Arguments

multiplierRequired
Friction multiplier near edges. 2 is the default.

What it does

When the ground ends just ahead of a moving player, the engine multiplies friction by this value, so players slow down near ledges instead of sliding off. Lower values make it easier to slide off edges; 1 removes the extra friction. Changes apply at once and are announced to players.

Good to know

  • Most competitive and jump servers keep the default.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
