How to change acceleration in CS 1.6
Type sv_accelerate 10 in the server console so players reach full speed faster. The default 5 is what competitive servers use.
sv_accelerate
Sets how fast players reach full running speed on the ground.
sv_accelerate <value> Examples
sv_accelerate 5 Standard Counter-Strike ground acceleration.
sv_accelerate 10 Snappier movement, as used on some fun servers.
Arguments
valueRequired- Ground acceleration factor. 5 is the Counter-Strike default.
What it does
Higher values make players hit top speed almost instantly and change direction sharper, lower values make movement feel floaty and slow to respond. Most competitive configs keep the default of 5. Changing it alters how strafing and counter-strafing feel, so test it before using it on a public server.
Good to know
- Changes are announced to players in chat because the cvar has the server-notify flag.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
