How to set your spawn point in Minecraft

Type /spawnpoint in chat as an operator to respawn where you stand, or /spawnpoint Steve 100 64 -200 to set Steve's spawn at those coordinates.

spawnpoint

Sets where a player respawns after dying, like a bed but at any position you choose.

/spawnpoint [<targets>] [<pos>] [<rotation>]

Examples

/spawnpoint

Sets your own respawn point where you stand.

/spawnpoint Steve 100 64 -200

Sets Steve's respawn point at fixed coordinates.

/spawnpoint @a ~ ~ ~

Sets everyone's respawn point at your position.

Arguments

targetsOptional
Player name or selector. Defaults to yourself.
posOptional
Block coordinates. Defaults to the current position.
rotationOptional
Yaw and pitch to face after respawning.

What it does

With no arguments it sets your own spawn point at your current position. The spawn point is set in the dimension the command runs in, and sleeping in a bed or using a respawn anchor later replaces it. Rotation sets the direction the player faces after respawning.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 2.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
