How to stop mobs from spawning in Minecraft

Run /gamerule spawn_mobs false and no mobs spawn naturally in the world. Spawners and /summon still work.

spawn_mobs

Controls whether mobs spawn naturally in the world.

/gamerule spawn_mobs <true|false>

Examples

/gamerule spawn_mobs false

Stop all natural mob spawning.

Values

ValueWhat it does
trueDefault On
false Off

Arguments

true|falseOptional
true turns the rule on, false turns it off. Leave it out to show the current value.

What it does

With false, no mobs spawn on their own, neither animals nor monsters. Spawners, spawn eggs and /summon still work. To stop only hostile mobs, use spawn_monsters instead.
