How to make snow pile up in Minecraft

Run /gamerule max_snow_accumulation_height 4 and snowfall can stack up to 4 layers of snow on a block. The default is 1 layer.

max_snow_accumulation_height

Sets how many layers of snow can pile up on a block during snowfall.

/gamerule max_snow_accumulation_height <value>

Examples

/gamerule max_snow_accumulation_height 0

No snow layers form.

/gamerule max_snow_accumulation_height 4

Deeper snow during storms.

Arguments

valueOptional
Whole number to set. Leave it out to show the current value.

What it does

Snow builds up to this many layers in snowy biomes while it snows. Set it to 0 to stop snow layers forming at all. Values above 1 let snow stack into thicker layers over time.

  • Renamed from snowAccumulationHeight.
