How to stop the day night cycle in Minecraft

Run /gamerule advance_time false and the sun stops where it is, so the time of day stays frozen. Use /time set noon first to pick the moment.

advance_time

Controls whether the day and night cycle moves forward or the time of day stays frozen.

/gamerule advance_time <true|false>

Examples

/gamerule advance_time false

Freeze the current time of day.

/time set noon

Then set the time you want to keep.

Values

ValueWhat it does
trueDefault On
false Off

Arguments

true|falseOptional
true turns the rule on, false turns it off. Leave it out to show the current value.

What it does

When set to false, the sun and moon stop where they are and the time of day no longer changes. Server owners turn it off for lobbies, build servers and maps that should stay in permanent daylight. Pair it with /time set to pick the moment you freeze on.

Good to know

  • Renamed from doDaylightCycle when game rules moved to snake_case names.

Run it on your server
