How to turn off entity cramming in Minecraft

Run /gamerule max_entity_cramming 0 and entities packed into one block no longer take suffocation damage. The default limit is 24.

max_entity_cramming

Sets how many entities can share one block space before they start taking suffocation damage.

/gamerule max_entity_cramming <value>

Examples

/gamerule max_entity_cramming 0

Disable cramming damage.

/gamerule max_entity_cramming 50

Allow denser animal pens.

Arguments

valueOptional
Whole number to set. Leave it out to show the current value.

What it does

When more pushable entities than this are packed into one spot, they take damage until the count drops. Mob farms use this on purpose as a kill mechanism. Set it to 0 to turn cramming damage off.
