How to turn off chat signing on a Minecraft server

Set enforce-secure-profile=false in server.properties and restart the server. Players without a Mojang signed key can join and chat is not signed.

enforce-secure-profile

Controls whether players must have a Mojang signed public key to join, which enables secure chat signing.

enforce-secure-profile=<value>

Examples

enforce-secure-profile=false

Allow players without signed chat keys.

Values

ValueWhat it does
trueDefault On
false Off

Arguments

valueRequired
The value to write after the equals sign.

What it does

When true, players without a valid signed profile key cannot connect, and chat messages are signed so they can be reported. Some proxy setups and offline mode servers need it set to false.

Good to know

  • Changes take effect after a server restart.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
