How to record a demo in CS2

Type record scrim1 in your game console to start recording and stop to save it. It is cheat-protected, so the server may need sv_cheats 1.

record

Starts recording a demo of the game you are in, saved as a .dem file.

record <name>

Examples

record scrim1

Record to scrim1.dem.

stop

End the recording.

Arguments

nameRequired
File name for the demo, without .dem.

What it does

Records your point of view to a demo in game/csgo. Start it once you are on a server and stop it with stop. The game marks it as a cheat-protected command, so some servers may refuse it.

The game's own description: Record a demo.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS2 server first.
