How to change freeze time in CS2
Type mp_freezetime 5 in the server console to freeze players for 5 seconds at the start of each round. 0 turns it off.
mp_freezetime
Sets how many seconds players stay frozen at the start of each round, time they use to buy and plan.
mp_freezetime <seconds> Examples
mp_freezetime 15 Match length freeze time for team play.
mp_freezetime 3 Short freeze for casual rounds.
mp_freezetime 0 No freeze at all, useful on practice servers.
Arguments
secondsRequired- How long the freeze lasts.
0removes freeze time completely.
What it does
During freeze time nobody can move or shoot, but everyone can buy and talk through the round. Lower it for casual or practice servers so rounds start faster, raise it for organized matches where teams need time to call a strategy. The buy period counts from the start of the round, so a long freeze time eats into mp_buytime unless that is long enough to cover it.
The game's own description: how many seconds to keep players frozen when the round starts
Good to know
- Competitive mode sets it to 15.
- The new value applies from the next round.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS2 server first.
