How to uncap FPS in CS2

Type fps_max 0 in your game console to remove the frame rate cap, or fps_max 300 to limit it to 300 FPS.

fps_max

Caps your frame rate during gameplay; 0 removes the limit.

fps_max <fps>

Examples

fps_max 0

Unlimited FPS.

fps_max 300

Cap at 300 FPS.

Arguments

fpsRequired
Frame limit, 0 for none.

What it does

Limits how many frames per second the game renders. A cap a bit above your monitor's refresh rate keeps frame times steady and lowers heat and noise, while 0 lets the game run as fast as it can.

The game's own description: Frame rate limiter. 0=no limit. Does not apply to dedicated server.

Good to know

  • Menus use fps_max_ui instead.
  • Has no effect on a dedicated server.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS2 server first.
