How to limit failed RCON logins in CS 1.6
Type sv_rcon_maxfailures 5 in the server console and an IP is banned after 5 wrong RCON passwords.
sv_rcon_maxfailures
Number of failed RCON password attempts after which an IP is banned.
sv_rcon_maxfailures <number> Examples
sv_rcon_maxfailures 5 Stricter limit on guessing.
Arguments
numberRequired- Failed attempts allowed before a ban.
What it does
Each wrong RCON password counts as a failure. Once an address reaches this many, it is banned for sv_rcon_banpenalty minutes. Lower values stop brute force sooner but are less forgiving of typos.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
