How to secure remote logs in CS 1.6
Type sv_logsecret 48213 in the server console and set the same number on your log receiver, so it can reject forged log lines.
sv_logsecret
Secret number added to remote log packets so a log receiver can confirm they came from your server.
sv_logsecret <number> Examples
sv_logsecret 48213 Tag remote log packets with a secret.
logaddress_add 203.0.113.10 27500 Send logs to a receiver that checks the secret.
Arguments
numberRequired- Any private number. 0 disables it.
What it does
When you stream logs to another machine with logaddress_add, set this to a private number and configure the receiver to expect it. Packets without the right number can then be ignored, which stops forged log lines. 0 means no secret.
Good to know
- Only matters for logs sent over UDP, not log files on disk.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
