How to change the Valheim server save folder
Add -savedir /home/steam/valheim-data to the server's launch options, and worlds plus the admin, ban and permitted lists are saved there.
-savedir
Sets the folder where worlds and the admin, ban and permitted lists are saved, replacing the default path.
-savedir <path> Examples
-savedir /home/steam/valheim-data Keeps saves in a custom folder.
Arguments
pathRequired- Full path to the save folder.
What it does
By default saves go to ~/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim on Linux and %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim on Windows. Set your own path to keep saves next to the server or on another disk. The access list files live in this folder too.
Good to know
- Add it to the server start line in
start_server.sh(Linux) orstart_headless_server.bat(Windows); it applies on the next server start.
Run it on your server
Launch options go on the server's start line. Admin commands are typed in the in-game console (F5) by a player on the admin list. New to this? Start a Valheim server first.
