How to tune spawn rates for player count in Rust

Type spawn.player_base 50 in the server console so the spawn system treats 50 players as its baseline when scaling spawn rates. Default is 100.

spawn.player_base

Sets the player count the spawn system treats as the baseline when scaling spawn rates.

spawn.player_base <players>

Examples

spawn.player_base 50

Scale spawns for a 50-player server.

Arguments

playersRequired
Baseline player count. Default 100.

What it does

Spawn group rates start scaling with spawn.player_scale once the player count passes this baseline. Lower it on smaller servers so scaling kicks in earlier.

The game's own description: Base player count used when computing population spawn rates; below this value player_scale group rates are not yet applied

Run it on your server

Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
