How to turn off sync chunk writes in Minecraft
Set sync-chunk-writes=false in server.properties and restart the server. Saving gets faster on slow disks, but a crash can lose chunks.
sync-chunk-writes
Controls whether chunks are written to disk synchronously.
sync-chunk-writes=<value> Examples
sync-chunk-writes=false Faster saving, less crash safety.
Values
| Value | What it does |
|---|---|
| trueDefault | On |
| false | Off |
Arguments
valueRequired- The value to write after the equals sign.
What it does
Synchronous writes make world data safer if the server crashes, at some cost to performance. Turning it off can make saving faster on slow disks but risks chunk loss on a crash.
Good to know
- Changes take effect after a server restart.
Run it on your server
