How to spectate a player in Minecraft
In spectator mode, type /spectate Steve in chat as an operator to see through Steve's eyes. /spectate on its own stops it.
spectate
Makes a spectator-mode player view the game through another entity's eyes, or stops spectating.
/spectate [<target>] [<player>] Examples
/spectate Steve Watches the game from Steve's point of view.
/spectate Stops spectating.
/spectate Steve Alex Makes Alex spectate Steve.
Arguments
targetOptional- Entity to spectate. Leave out to stop spectating.
playerOptional- Spectator-mode player who should spectate. Defaults to yourself.
What it does
The player doing the spectating must be in spectator mode. With no arguments it stops spectating and returns to free camera. Give a second player argument to make someone else spectate the target, which is handy for camera setups.
Good to know
- Needs operator permission level 2.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
