How to change the port of a Minecraft server
Set server-port=25566 in server.properties and restart the server. Players then connect to your address with :25566; the default is 25565.
server-port
Sets the TCP port the server listens on for players.
server-port=<port> Examples
server-port=25565 Default port.
Arguments
portRequired- The value to write after the equals sign.
On SLASHPLAY
Keep it at 25565 on SLASHPLAY: your public address points at this port inside the server, so nobody can join if it changes.
What it does
Players connect on 25565 by default without typing a port. If you change it, players need to add :port to the address unless an SRV DNS record points to it.
Good to know
- Changes take effect after a server restart.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
