How to bind a Minecraft server to one IP

Set server-ip=192.168.1.20 in server.properties and restart the server to listen only on that address. Leave it empty to listen on all of them.

server-ip

Sets the IP address the server binds to.

server-ip=<ip>

Examples

server-ip=

Listen on all addresses.

Arguments

ipRequired
The value to write after the equals sign.

What it does

Leave it empty to listen on all network interfaces, which is what most hosts need. Set it only when the machine has several addresses and the server should use one of them.

Good to know

  • Changes take effect after a server restart.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
