How to set a packet rate limit on a Minecraft server

Set rate-limit=500 in server.properties and restart the server. Players sending over 500 packets a second are kicked; 0 turns it off.

rate-limit

Sets the maximum number of packets a player may send per second before being kicked.

rate-limit=<value>

Examples

rate-limit=0

No packet limit.

rate-limit=500

Kick clients sending over 500 packets a second.

Arguments

valueRequired
The value to write after the equals sign.

What it does

Protects against clients flooding the server with packets. 0 turns the limit off. If you set one, leave plenty of headroom so normal players are not kicked.
