How to raise the function command limit in Minecraft

Run /gamerule max_command_sequence_length 100000 so a single function or command chain can run up to 100000 commands in one tick.

max_command_sequence_length

Sets the maximum number of commands a single function or command chain can run in one tick.

/gamerule max_command_sequence_length <value>

Examples

/gamerule max_command_sequence_length 100000

Allow longer function chains.

Arguments

valueOptional
Whole number to set. Leave it out to show the current value.

What it does

Functions and command block chains stop when they hit this limit, which protects the server from runaway loops. Raise it if a datapack's functions are being cut short.

Good to know

  • Renamed from maxCommandChainLength.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
