How to keep chunks loaded in Minecraft
Type /forceload add 0 0 in chat as an operator to keep the chunk at those coordinates loaded with nobody nearby. /forceload query lists them.
forceload
Keeps chunks loaded at all times, even with no players nearby, or lists and removes forced chunks.
/forceload <add <from> [<to>]|remove <from> [<to>]|remove all|query [<pos>]> Examples
/forceload add 0 0 Keeps the chunk at 0, 0 loaded.
/forceload query Lists forced chunks in this dimension.
/forceload remove all Releases every forced chunk in this dimension.
Arguments
fromOptional- Block x z of the first chunk.
toOptional- Block x z of the opposite corner, for a range of chunks.
posOptional- Block x z to check with
query.
What it does
Coordinates are block x and z; the command force-loads the chunks that contain them. Forced chunks keep working without players, which is useful for farms, spawn machinery and command setups, but every forced chunk costs server performance. It applies to the dimension the command runs in, so use execute in for other dimensions.
Good to know
- Needs operator permission level 2.
- A single
addis limited to 256 chunks.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
