How to look up a player's skin profile in Minecraft

Type /fetchprofile name Notch in chat as an operator to look up that player's profile and skin data, for player heads and mannequins.

fetchprofile

Looks up a player profile by name, UUID or entity and shows the result in chat.

/fetchprofile <name <name>|id <uuid>|entity <entity>>

Examples

/fetchprofile name Notch

Looks up a profile by username.

/fetchprofile entity @p

Shows the profile of the nearest player.

Arguments

nameOptional
Player username to look up.
idOptional
Player UUID to look up.
entityOptional
A single entity whose profile to read.

What it does

Resolves a game profile, including its skin data, from a username, a UUID or an entity in the world. It is useful when you build player heads or mannequins with a specific skin and need the profile data to copy into a component. The lookup goes through Mojang's services, so it can be slow or fail if they are unreachable.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 2.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
