How to change brightness in CS:S
Type mat_monitorgamma 1.8 in your game console to brighten the picture. Lower values are brighter; the default is 2.2.

Sets screen gamma, which changes brightness.

Arguments
gammaRequired- Gamma value.
What it does
Lower values make the image brighter. The range is about 1.6 to 2.6.
The game's own description: monitor gamma (typically 2.2 for CRT and 1.7 for LCD)
Good to know
- Only works in fullscreen.
