How to bind a CS 1.6 server to an IP
Add +ip 203.0.113.10 to the server's launch line and restart, so the server listens on that address on a machine with several IPs.
ip
IP address the server binds to. Set it on the launch line on machines with more than one address.
ip <address> Examples
ip 203.0.113.10 Typed on the launch line as +ip 203.0.113.10.
Arguments
addressRequired- Local IP address of the machine.
What it does
Tells the engine which local IP address to bind its network socket to. With the default the engine picks an address on its own, which is fine on most hosts. Set it with +ip on the launch line when the machine has several addresses, since the socket is opened once at startup.
Good to know
- Changing it in a running server does not rebind the socket.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
