How to change max FPS in CS 1.6
Type fps_max 100 in your game console to cap your frame rate at 100. Above 100 also needs fps_override 1.
fps_max
Upper limit on how many frames per second the engine runs. Mostly relevant to game clients.
fps_max <fps> Examples
fps_max 100 The default cap.
fps_max 0 Clears the cap where the engine allows it.
Arguments
fpsRequired- Maximum frames per second.
What it does
Caps the engine frame rate. On a game client it limits rendered fps and is capped at 100 unless fps_override 1 is set. On a dedicated server the frame rate is driven by sys_ticrate, so change that first when tuning server performance.
Good to know
- Stored in config files, so it survives restarts on clients.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab of the server page; the reply shows right under it. A value set there lasts until the server restarts. To keep it, add the line to cstrike/server.cfg. New to this? Start a CS 1.6 server first.
