How to change map size in Rust
Add +server.worldsize 3500 to the server's launch options to generate a 3500 by 3500 meter map.
server.worldsize
Sets the size of the procedural map in meters per side.
+server.worldsize <meters> Examples
+server.worldsize 3500 Medium map for around 100 players.
+server.worldsize 4250 Large map for big populations.
Arguments
metersRequired- Map width and height in meters.
What it does
Larger maps spread players out and hold more monuments, but take longer to generate, use more memory and feel empty with few players. Typical values are 3000 to 4500. It is read when the map is generated, so set it on the launch line before a wipe; changing it on a live world does nothing until a new map is created.
The game's own description: Width and height of the procedurally generated world in metres; larger values create a bigger map with more resources
Good to know
- Changing size or seed produces a different map, which means a map wipe.
Run it on your server
Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
