How to change your Rust server name
Type server.hostname "My Rust Server" in the server console to set the name shown in the server browser, then server.writecfg to keep it.
server.hostname
Sets the server name that players see in the Rust server browser.
server.hostname "<name>" Examples
server.hostname "EU Vanilla | Monthly | Max 4" Typical name with region, style and group limit.
+server.hostname "My Rust Server" Same setting on the launch line.
Arguments
nameRequired- The server name. Wrap it in double quotes if it contains spaces.
What it does
The name is the first thing players read when they browse servers, so most owners put the wipe schedule, region and group limit in it. Set it on the launch line or in server.cfg so it survives restarts, and quote it when it contains spaces. A change made in the console shows up in the browser after the next server list refresh.
The game's own description: Server name displayed in the server browser
Good to know
- Run
server.writecfgafter changing it in the console to keep it after a restart.
Run it on your server
Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
