How to set your Rust server description

Type server.description "Monthly wipe. Max group 4." in the server console to set the text on your server's page in the server browser.

Sets the description text shown on your server's page in the server browser.

Two-line description with basic rules.

Arguments

textRequired: The description. Quote it, and use \n for a new line.

What it does

Use it for rules, wipe times, group limits and links to Discord or a website. Line breaks are written as \n inside the quoted text. Players read it before joining, so keep the most important rules near the top.

Good to know

Persist it with server.writecfg or put it in server.cfg.

Run it on your server

Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
