How to restart a Rust server
Type global.restart 300 "Server update" in the server console to restart in 300 seconds, with that message shown to players.
global.restart
Schedules a server restart with a countdown and an optional message to players.
restart [seconds] ["message"] Examples
restart 300 "Server update" Restart in 5 minutes with a reason.
restart 60 Restart in one minute.
Arguments
secondsOptional- Countdown before the restart, in seconds.
messageOptional- Text broadcast to players with the warning.
What it does
Players get in-game warnings while the countdown runs, then the server restarts. Use it for planned restarts or updates so players have time to get somewhere safe. The first argument is the countdown in seconds, the second an optional message.
The game's own description: Schedules a server restart; optionally accepts a countdown in seconds and a broadcast message sent to all players before the restart occurs
Good to know
- Whether the process comes back up depends on your host or start script.
Run it on your server
Type it in the server console or send it over RCON; admins can also use the F1 console in game. To keep a setting, run server.writecfg after changing it, or put it on the launch line as +name value.
