How to tell a player something privately in Minecraft

Type /tell Steve meet me at spawn in chat and only Steve sees the message. It works the same as /msg.

tell

Sends a private message to one or more players, as an alias of /msg.

/tell <targets> <message>

Examples

/tell Steve meet me at spawn

Whispers to Steve.

Arguments

targetsRequired
Player name or selector.
messageRequired
Text to send.

What it does

tell redirects to msg, so it takes the same arguments: the recipients and the message. Only the recipients see it.

Good to know

  • Alias of msg.
