/tag <targets> <add <name>|remove <name>|list>

Examples

/tag @p add vip

Tags the nearest player as vip.

/tag Steve remove vip

Removes the tag.

/tag @p list

Lists the player's tags.

Arguments

targetsRequired
Players or entities.
nameOptional
Tag name, one word.

What it does

Tags are simple labels stored on the entity, useful for marking players or mobs in command setups, for example @a[tag=vip]. An entity can hold up to 1024 tags.

Good to know

  • Needs operator permission level 2.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
