How to set the resource pack hash in Minecraft

Set resource-pack-sha1=<40-character SHA-1 hash> in server.properties and restart the server. Clients check it and reuse their cached copy.

resource-pack-sha1

Sets the SHA-1 hash of the resource pack so clients can verify it and use their cached copy.

resource-pack-sha1=<hash>

Examples

resource-pack-sha1=0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef01234567

40 character hash of the zip.

Arguments

hashRequired
The value to write after the equals sign.

What it does

Without the hash, clients may download the pack again on every join. Update it whenever you change the pack file, or players keep the old version.

Good to know

  • Changes take effect after a server restart.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
