How to stop the watchdog crashing a Minecraft server
Set max-tick-time=-1 in server.properties and restart the server. The watchdog no longer stops the server when one tick takes over 60 seconds.
max-tick-time
Sets how long, in milliseconds, one server tick may take before the watchdog stops the server.
max-tick-time=<value> Examples
max-tick-time=-1 Disable the watchdog.
max-tick-time=120000 Allow two minute stalls.
Arguments
valueRequired- The value to write after the equals sign.
What it does
If a single tick runs longer than this, the server assumes it is frozen and shuts down with a crash report. Set it to -1 to turn the watchdog off, which is common with heavy modpacks that stall during world generation.
Good to know
- Changes take effect after a server restart.
Run it on your server
On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
