How to change function permission level in Minecraft

Set function-permission-level=2 in server.properties and restart the server. Data pack functions then run with that permission level, from 1 to 4.

function-permission-level

Sets the permission level that functions from datapacks run with.

function-permission-level=<value>

Examples

function-permission-level=2

Default level for functions.

Arguments

valueRequired
The value to write after the equals sign.

What it does

Functions run with this op level, which decides which commands they can use. The default of 2 covers most gameplay commands; raise it only if a trusted datapack needs higher level commands.

Good to know

  • Changes take effect after a server restart.

Run it on your server

On a SLASHPLAY server, type it in the Console tab without the leading slash; in game, operators type it in chat with the slash. New to this? Start a Minecraft server first.
